Holistic
Counseling
Embracing a more inclusive understanding of human experience, holistic counseling considers the intricate web of influences that shape our lives—from thoughts and emotions to physical sensations and spiritual aspirations.
Key Principles of Holistic Counseling
Holistic counseling sessions are designed for individuals and couples ready to look at themselves and own part of their struggles without blaming others. This is a journey towards self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-acceptance so they can move beyond egoic problems and into deeper aspects of the heart.
Holistic counseling is an approach to therapy that considers the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit—rather than focusing solely on specific symptoms or psychological issues. It integrates traditional counseling techniques with complementary therapies and practices, such somatic techniques, meditation and introspection, breathing techniques, and energy medicine.
Holistic counseling aims to support individuals in achieving overall wellbeing and balance in all aspects of their lives:
Wholeness
Holistic counseling recognizes that mental health is interconnected with physical wellness, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual fulfillment. It seeks to address all these dimensions to promote complete wellness.
Integration
This approach integrates various therapeutic practices, including conventional talk therapy, breathing techniques, meditation, somatic exercises, energy work, and mindful presence. The goal is to create a customized approach that addresses the unique needs of the individual.
Mind-Body-Spirit Connection
Holistic counselors understand the deep connection between the mind, body, and spirit. For example, stress and anxiety might manifest as physical symptoms like headaches or digestive issues, and addressing these issues might involve both mental/emotional techniques, as well as a referral to a naturopathic doctor for physical interventions.
Client-Centered
Holistic counseling is client-centered, meaning that the counselor works collaboratively with the client to explore and address their concerns. The client’s experiences, beliefs, and values are deeply respected and integrated into the counseling process.
Preventative and Proactive
Instead of only focusing on treating symptoms, holistic counseling emphasizes prevention and the cultivation of healthy habits and practices that support long-term wellbeing.
Focus on Self-Healing
Holistic counseling strives to empower individuals to take an active role in their healing process. This might involve learning new coping skills, adopting healthier lifestyle choices, or exploring spiritual practices that foster inner peace and self-awareness.
What to Expect
in a Session
Holistic counseling sessions are facilitated through a psychospiritual framework to best serve clients. Each session lasts 50 to 60 minutes, guiding you towards your own internal guru to find your deepest Truth.
Together, we journey through your season of life with the guidance of a three-part framework:
Healing
I have a genuine interest in helping others heal from their past and reframe their identity. To do this, I rely on a vast toolbox of skills that grows every day. I am not about rehashing old stories, but rather rewriting those stories and helping you accept them.
Connection
I am deeply committed to each of my clients and model connection. I am fully present for each session with my clients so I can teach them to connect with both their deepest selves and others.
Transformation
Most of my clients have experienced trauma—either with a Big-T or a little-t. Regardless of the magnitude of the experience, traumatic memories are hard to disengage and disidentify with. I offer a plethora of tools to transform old patterns and identities and realign with a new way of being. Together, you can find true resonance in your life and pursue clarity, discovery, and self-acceptance.
